| Objective To investigate the effect of compound red ginseng pills on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods Sixty patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) discharge from our hospital from July 2020 to August 2020 after outpatient or inpatient treatment were randomly divided into control group (n = 30) and observation group (n = 30). The control group was given regular inhalation of Symbicort, and the observation group was given compound red ginseng pill orally every day on the basis of treatment in the control group. COPD assessment test, TCM symptom score and pulmonary rales disappear time were evaluated for the two groups of patients, and pulmonary function tests, blood gas analysis and inflammatory indicators were performed, before and after treatment. The frequency of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was recorded after the treatment. Results There was no significant difference in CAT score, TCM symptom score, pulmonary rales score, FEV1, FEV1/FVC, PaO2, PaCO2, WBC, N and CRP levels before treatment between the two groups (P>0.05); CAT score, TCM symptom score, pulmonary rales score, PaCO2, WBC, N and CRP levels were decreased, FEV1, FEV1/FVC and PaO2 levels were increased in the two groups, and the differences were statistically significant after the treatment (P<0.05). And CAT score, TCM symptom score, PaCO2, WBC and CRP in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, FEV1, FEV1/FVC, and PaO2 in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Compound red ginseng Pills can significantly control the progression and clinical symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, effectively improve the respiratory function, and reduce the level of inflammation and the frequency of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This has good value of clinical promotion.
