"Stagnant in Stomach and Stopping in Lung" is an important theory to summarize the etiology and pathogenesis of cough related to the lungs and stomach, based on pulmonary-gastric associated cough, new ideas for the diagnosis and treatment of gastroesophageal reflux-related cough variant asthma may provide a new way to explore. According to the etiology of cough-variant asthma, Western medicine believes that it is closely related to gastroesophageal reflux. Various western medicines for the treatment of this disease are only a symptom but not a cure, and have more drug side effects. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is an effective means for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux-related cough variant asthma, but there is no unified understanding at present. Studies have shown that the gut microbiota is involved in the disease process of cough-variant asthma. Traditional Chinese medicine divides this disease into three stages, considering that the disease is located in the lungs and stomach, its pathogenesis is the abnormal distribution of fluid and gas, the principle of treatment is "urgency is to cure the symptoms, and slow is to cure the root cause." Therefore, this article is based on the traditional Chinese medicine theory of "gathering in the stomach, about the lungs", and discusses the etiology and pathogenesis of pulmonary and gastric-related gastroesophageal reflux cough variant asthma and modulating the intestinal microbiota to explore the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux-related cough variant asthma.
